An Education- One of the biggest mistakes that graphics designers make is trying to break into the market without a proper education. Even if you don't have a formal education in graphic design or get your degree, take a couple of classes or buy some books to help you along the way.

Computer- Almost all-graphic design is done on computers. If you're looking to break into the market, a good computer with a great graphics card is key.

You want to go with a computer that you feel comfortable with. If you're used to the Windows format, go with a Windows computer. All graphic design software is offered for Mac based computers also. Therefore, if you have a Mac, you are covered.

Adobe Creative Suite- Adobe is the leading provider of graphic design software. Their Photoshop program has made amateurs seem like professionals for a long time. If you're serious about breaking into the field, you want to go with a name brand that everybody knows. Adobe Creative Suite is the perfect solution for combining graphic design, web development, and video editing for anybody willing to learn the applications.

Sketchpads- Being able to sketch out a design before you apply it to your computer is essential for saving time and money in the long run.

A sketchpad is also a great tool to take with you on the run. Ideas can hit at any time and you want to be ready with a sketchpad at hand.

Graphics Tablets- Graphics tablets are great tools for any graphic designer who likes to create images by hand. These USB based tablets will let a designer draw images by hand on their computer screen and manipulate them using their software.

When you are buying a graphics tablet, invest your money in a pressure sensitive one that can vary your brush strokes based on the pressure you use with its pen.
